The all new Renault E Tech range | Masters Group Renault

The Renault Clio Self Charging Hybrid

Maximising electric driving and enjoyment, Renault's innovative and exclusive E-Tech technology has enabled them to develop two types of hybrid vehicles; the All-New Clio E-Tech and the All-New Captur E-Tech Plug-in Hybrid.

A combination of hybrid performance and the adaptability of Clio, the All-New Clio E-Tech is the first hybrid model produced by Renault and benefits from 100% electric starting. Transitioning between the engine and full-electric mode is smooth and barely noticeable, providing a pleasant drive whether in the city or on the motorway.

With the Clio consistently being a popular choice amongst UK drivers, the Clio E-Tech Hybrid will without a doubt appeal to drivers looking for an eco-friendly, affordable hatchback.

Economy and Performance

The 138bhp E-Tech is the most powerful Clio, yet still manages to emit only 98g/km of CO2 (WLTP) and returns impressive fuel economy of up to 64.2mpg (WLTP). Combining electric and combustion engines with an efficient automatic Multi-mode gearbox, the Clio E-Tech consumes up to 40% less fuel compared to a conventional petrol engine when driving on the motorway or in the city. Due to being a full hybrid there's no range anxiety and no requirement to plug-in to charge.

Thanks to the instant responsiveness from its electric engines, drivers can enjoy speedy acceleration and 80% of city driving time with all-electric power. The new-generation 1.6-litre petrol engine is accompanied by two electric motors, a High-voltage Starter Generator (HSG) and an innovative, efficient multi-mode clutch-less gearbox.

Renault are experienced in the electrified vehicle field, due to their involvement in Formula 1, and they have developed a sophisticated way of managing the three power sources in order to offer a true electric experience for all.

Charging

Electric pleasure with no charging, as the Clio E-Tech Hybrid is a full hybrid (HEV), there is no need to plug-in to charge the vehicle.

Regenerative braking, combined with the high charging capacity of the 1.2 kWh batteries and the efficiency of the E-Tech system, helps to optimise energy, whilst delivering significant reductions in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

Introducing the Renault Captur E-Tech Plug-in Hybrid

The most efficient, dynamic and advanced Captur to date, the All-New Captur E-Tech Plug-in Hybrid is Renault's first plug-in hybrid vehicle. Developed based on Renault's innovative and exclusive E-Tech technology, using knowledge derived from the Renault F1 team, along with the All-New Clio E-Tech.

Suitably prepared for any journey, thanks to its two electric motors, drivers can opt for full-electric mode when city driving or switch to hybrid mode for longer-distance. On longer journeys, the petrol engine and electric motors work in conjunction with each other to maximise fuel economy.

Just like the petrol and diesel powered Captur, the E-Tech model is fully customisable from the interior to the exterior so you can tailor the car to be as individual as you are.

Range and Performance

Drivers don't only benefit from lower running costs, the plug-in hybrid also emits exceedingly low levels of CO2 at only 34g/km. Despite the low emissions and cheaper running costs, the Captur E-Tech still provides an enjoyable drive, delivering 158bhp from the combination of a 1.6-litre petrol engine, a 9.8kWh battery and two electric motors.

The Hybrid crossover SUV has a full-electric range of 30 miles and it starts silently as it uses the main electric motor to start in full electric mode. Reversing is also always in electric mode.

You gain the best of both worlds with the Captur E-Tech as you can drive short distances without consuming fuel, yet tackle longer distance journeys without worrying about the driving range.

Charging

Two cables come as standard with the Captur hybrid vehicle:

  • A 3-pin socket cable which can be plugged into a domestic 3-pin socket and fully charges the vehicle in up to 4.25 hours
  • A Type 2 (Mode 3) cable which is used with a dedicated home charger and has a charging time of 3 hours

Charging times vary depending on temperature, battery wear, power delivered by the station and battery charge level. However, for added reassurance, the traction battery comes with an 8 year/100,000 mile warranty.

Introducing the Renault Megane Sport Tourer E-Tech Plug-in Hybrid

Demonstrating the best of the Renault Megane with all the benefits of a Plug-in Hybrid vehicle, the Renault Megane Sport Tourer E-Tech Plug-in Hybrid is the definition of the best of both worlds with minimal noise and immediate acceleration.

Synergy between the electric motors and the petrol engine ensure long journeys are easily achievable and the vehicle will automatically choose the optimal driving mode for maximised fuel efficiency. On the other hand, for an emission free drive, full-electric mode can be maintained for up to 40 miles.

During 2021, the E-Tech Plug-in Hybrid will also be available as a Megane hatchback version.

Range and Performance

Megane Sport Tourer E-Tech PHEV Driving

Full-electric mode can be experienced for 30 miles up to a speed of 85mph in mixed cycle (WLTP) and 40 miles in urban cycle (WLTP City). Range doesn't need to be a concern when travelling on longer journeys, the versatile E-Tech hybrid is able to run using traditional fuel rather than just battery power alone.

Three driving modes are available to select:

  1. Pure: switches to full-electric mode providing there is enough power
  2. MySense: optimises the hybrid mode for lower running costs
  3. Sport: combined power of the three engine to provide maximum performance

Developed based on F1 experience and electric expertise, the powerful four-cylinder, 1.6-litre, 158bhp E-Tech Plug-in Hybrid engine combines with two electric motors and an innovative multi-mode clutch-less gearbox transmission to deliver a remarkable driving experience.

Charging

Megane Sport Tourer E-Tech PHEV Charging

Two cables are supplied with the hybrid vehicle as standard:

  1. 3-pin socket cable: plug in to a domestic 3-pin socket to achieve a full charge in up to 4 hours 15 minutes
  2. Type 2 (mode 3): to be used with a dedicated home charger to achieve a full charge in 3 hours

Charging is simple and can be done at home, work or at one of the many public charging points located around the UK.

Thanks to Renault's electric knowledge and expertise gained from Formula 1®, the Megane E-Tech Plug-in Hybrid boasts an energy recovery system that captures energy through regenerative braking, in the same way as an F1 car.

New Renault Megane E-Tech Plug-in Hybrid:

Megane Hatch E-Tech PHEV

Just like the Renault Megane Sport Tourer E-Tech Plug-in Hybrid, the hatchback version provides reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions on both short and long journeys.

Utilising the same powertrain as the Sport Tourer, the hatchback delivers an equally as impressive driving experience.
