Kia expands the highly successful Picanto family with an extra tough version: the Kia Picanto X-Line. This performance is inspired by the SUVs of Kia: the Sportage and the Sorento. The new telg meets its world premiere on September 12 at the International Auto Show IAA in Frankfurt. Sales of the new Picanto X-Line will start in the fourth quarter of 2017. Prices will make Kia known later.
Picanto very successful
The new Kia Picanto is an absolute success number - worldwide, but especially in the Netherlands. The hatchback in the A segment is the best-selling car of Dutch individuals almost every month. "We launched the new Kia Picanto this year in Europe and already sells the car better than its already so successful predecessor," says Michael Cole, Chief Operating Officer of Kia Motors Europe. "In the first half of 2017 sales increased to 31,827 copies, which is 23% more than in the same period last year. Worldwide, the Picanto is one of our bestsellers. "
To further expand the success, Kia introduces the tough Picanto X-Line. Compared with the regular Picanto, the Picanto X-Line has a 15 millimeter greater ground clearance (now 156 mm). Unique features of the Kia Picanto X-Line are the SUV-like bumpers with metal look skidplates, sporty, light metal 16-inch wheels, striking interior color package and lime green (or silver) highlights around the 'tiger nose' grille and fog lamps. Black plastic panels around the wheelchairs emphasize the greater ground clearance and the SUV-like character. Like the regular Picanto, the X-Line version offers ample head and leg room, a 255 to 1,010-liter luggage compartment (leading in the A-segment) and a rear-seat rear seat in the 60:40 ratio.
74 kW (100 hp) 1.0 T-GDI - The Poweriest Picanto Ever
The brand new Picanto X-Line is the first Picanto in the range with the exceptionally powerful 1.0-liter three-cylinder T-GDI turbocharged engine. The new power source fits perfectly with the tough look of the Picanto X-Line and makes this version the most powerful Picanto ever. The turbomotor delivers 74 kW (100 hp) at 4,500 rpm and 172 Nm torque between 1,500 and 4,000 rpm, well for a sprint of 0 to 100 km / h in just 10.1 seconds. This 1.0 T-GDI petrol engine is also available in the sporty Picanto GT-Line. The performance level is the same as that of the Picanto X-Line.
Top level equipment
The equipment of the Picanto X-Line is of exceptionally high level. Business like LED daytime running lights, fog lamps, a shark antenna, keyless entry and a sporty smooth steering wheel - also new to the Picanto GT Line - are all standard. The same goes for an extensive infotainment system with a robust, floating 7.0-inch touchscreen, integrated navigation with 3D cards and Apple CarPlayTM and Android AutoTM support. By default, the Picanto X-Line is equipped with a reverse camera, wireless smartphone charger (induction) and a USB port.
Extensive safety equipment
The safety equipment is the same as that of the regular Kia Picanto and thus of exceptionally high level, especially in the A segment. Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) and six airbags (front, side and curtain) are standard, like active safety systems such as Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) with Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB).
Seven year warranty (or 150,000 kilometers) is standard, like on any new Kia.
